Getting married tends to require significant documentation, with much of those documents requiring appropriate authentication, such that is no questions as to their legitimacy. As such, it is very important that you get those documents correctly authenticated by the right professional and have all associated aspects confirmed well in advance with the institution that will be performing and confirming your marriage.

This is even more significant when you are looking to get married outside of Canada, such that it is extremely important that you obtain all the necessary documents and have them properly authenticated before you leave. This can include status declarations, notarized copies of official documents and various pieces of identification such as your birth certificate and if you are divorced, your divorce certificate. In addition, foreign authorities will likely require that these notarized copies be authenticated and legalized by the appropriate authorities before they are accepted in the foreign country.
